A Few Fun FInishes

I have been working hard over here crossing off things on my to do list before the baby comes. It's going great! I finished a set of crochet hats that I donated to my local NICU and I also finished up the pirate quilt top. Woohoo! I'm linking up with Finish it up Friday over at Crazy Mom Quilts.

First the crochet...
These are the newborn size hats. Aren't they adorable!! I love them all! As it turns out the NICU has a lot more newborn size babies than I thought so now I'll have to concentrate on making these as opposed to the preemie size.

These are the preemie hats. For a size comparison they fit in my hand from end to end. So adorable?! Which one is your favorite so I can know what people love and make more. I like the bunny ears and the bows. The earflap ones are also cute, okay I just like them all. They go so quickly because they are so tiny. I made eight of these yesterday and two of the newborn hats in my spare time.

I added the last of the borders and finished up the pirate quilt too!!  The pattern came from the book Simply Fat Quarters and is the Marble one. My little man is so excited. He says that since it is Summer he doesn't really need the fluffy stuff in the middle and he can just use it like this without the back or the fluffy stuff until it gets cold. I love it! I actually don't have the batting on hand so I'm tempted to let him use it until I can pick some up and start the quilting.

Also a giveaway update and question. The giveaway winner Ida happens to be a no-reply blogger. In the rules I said... "- Make sure you have a way to contact you either with an email in the comment or ensure you are not a no reply blogger. If I can't email you then you can't win." So do I give her until Monday to come back and notice she is a winner or do I just draw again and pick someone else?

As always thanks for stopping by! I've been especially loving my faithful followers lately and those lovely comments!!

  2. You little hats are so adorable! I went to a quilting retreat in April and we made little NICU quilts for the premies. So fun too. Nice pirate quilt. :)

  3. I like the bows for girls and the flaps for boys. But I gotta say that green one in the top pic (bear ears?) really looks like a frog to me (maybe because my daughter is a frog nut?) What a wonderful project to work on.

  6. all those preemie hats - eek! i've had 5 preemies now and i can tell you THANK YOU for the donation. it's such a nice touch to the really stressful NICU experience. with our last little one, she got a new hat almost every day. it was her siblings favorite thing to do when they visited - pick out her hat for the day. and i must say, i don't think any we got were this cute! but all appreciated. =)

  10. The hats, my God, are amazing!
Many years ago, I had a baby in a NICU for a month... Now I see your collection, I wish someone had given us a baby hat. Not because the baby needed one, but just to show that someone cared - YOU ARE AMAZING!

  11. Um. . Hi, I'm Ida. In my defense, I didn't know I was a no-reply blogger. I've checked my settings and I'm not sure how to determine or fix this. My email is idaewing@yahoo.com. I hope I can still claim the giveaway win but I will understand if you've already chosen someone else.

  12. Oh those baby hats are just so adorable! I know I really appreciated when my little one received a home-made hat when he was in the hospital! Is there any chance that I could get a copy of the pattern you are using to make these - especially the newborn size with the bear ear or bows? I've been looking for something cute I could make to donate to our local hospital and these would be just perfect. Thanks! (my email is maggieanorman@gmail.com).
